paisley's latest

we found paisley a new bed! yahoo!! i love craiglist, i got the exact crib that i wanted and also some pretty cute bedding for a good deal. it looks shabby chic, which i am all about, and paisley loves it too-she looks so small sleeping it.

we went to the mall a little while ago and i could just not resist having paisley try on these sunglasses, they are so cute. she looks very hip with over sized glasses don't you think??

lately paisley is loving sitting up in her swing and grabbing and playing with the toys. also, i got her some chew rings and she does well with those too-she just loves to bite things.

here is a video of paisley showing off one of her latest tricks, i love her face expression, so like "what? this is easy" (sorry the video is sideways, sometimes blogger does this and i don't know how to fix it...anybody know how??)

here is one more of paisley rolling over. she first rolled over on christmas break, but now she does it regularly and so effortlessly most of the time, now we just have to get her to figure out how to roll back over-she gets frustrated because she can't.

when it rains, it pours

no i am not referring to the weather, san diego is a balmy 73 today. which is great, but is not january, i am no where near use to this warm weather year-round stuff....not sure if i every will be, but that is not what i am writing about so moving on. since this is a family journal, or lets be honest, my journal, here is the cold hard truth: this was a sucky week. here is a list of things that have been going on in no particular order:

-found out that the home that we found and really liked(and were about to put an offer on) is out of our budget after all the extra monthly costs

-i made a new pasta recipe and it was mediocre at very best

-my mom went into surgery yesterday and had her leg right up to her knee amputated(clearly this is the worst of the bad news)

-got our car fixed (for a mere 600 bucks) so that it could pass smog, and the check engine light stayed off for about 24 hours-yes, that means that it is back on and no longer going to pass smog
basically san diego is expensive and this month for some reason it seems to really be tough, paisley is quickly growing out of her bassinet which means she needs a crib, and crib bedding and everything adds up so quick. please don't think i don't realize how very, VERY blessed i am, not only because i am an american, with the gospel, but also chris has a good job in this crazy economy-i know we really have it good and i am so grateful, but it is still hard. right when i was in the height of my sadness, i opened the ensign for out nightly talk and which one was up?? president uchtodorf's on the power of hope. it was perfect timing and a good reminder about hope. so here is what i am focusing on: chris, paisley and i are all healthy and despite everything we are happy. paisley is beautiful and brings joy to me everyday. here are the way overdue 3 month portraits of my little darlin. hope her smile helps you smile like it helps me:)
kuddos again go to jan for the great pictures. thanks jan!

family pictures

this year everything for the holidays seemed to be a bit behind for me. we did however squeeze in some family photos with jan at the local park. she always does a good job, here are a few of my favs. we didn't get paisley to smile in any of them, but just wait for my next post and you will see plenty of that cute smile of hers.

almost all of the ones with daddy and daughter turned out fabulous, it was really hard to decide which ones i liked best. aren't they a cute pair?!?

i don't mean to brag, but i think my family is pretty dang cute! so glad that we could capture this time in our lives with such pretty photos.

holidays continued

chris the lucky dog got to go to two bowl games this year and paisley and i went to one with him. we all owe robin(chris's dad), he has got the hook up with tickets and pre-game yummy food. we went to the holiday bowl to support my home state of oregon. it was a great game and the ducks pulled it off. funny how i always just assume there will be a spot for paisley, but when you only have 2 tickets, there isn't really room for a baby in a car seat, so pasiley spent the first part of the game under chris's stadium seat. yes thats right, under his seat, we could still see her face, but it was definitely not my favorite choice for her. luckily, we moved one row back part way through and she could have her own seat. and of course no football game would be complete without the two 70 year old men sitting just down from us that never ran out of obscenities to scream, beer to drink, or high fives to give. awesome.

we loved seeing steph and dj so much, i will have more family pictures to post once i get them from jan. i didn't take to many on my camera, here is steph and dj playing with paisley--dj totally got her laughing, it was great but i didn't catch it on video yet-darn! the pic of steph and robin is such a cute picture of the both of them-love family.

one great thing about living in a vacation destination is getting to see friends more. over the break we got to spend some time with one of my best buds, michelle and her husband spencer. they were going back to utah after being in mexico for the week. it was so great for them to meet paisley, even if it was just a short visit. michelle is so tiny, paisley looks huge in her arms! we miss not having them around.

we also got to spend some time with the aguiar gals which is always a hoot, and somehow i ended up with no pictures from that-lame! lastly, our friend kid(justin is his real name, long story) and his wife susan were in town for their one year wedding anniversary and came over on new years eve. it was great catching up with them and hearing about life in utah-they are a fun couple.

welcome back

wow. christmas break was awesome and i have so much to journal about. so here goes on getting caught up on our crazy life. first things first, paisley has discovered a new toy: her thumb. now she enjoys sucking on it( how her little baby thumb is satisfying to suck i will never know) and her binky-great! the only down side is her poor little chin. it is all red and bumpy most of the time because there is constant slobber on it-oh well, her overall cuteness definitely makes up for that.

paisley loves hanging out with her in-town grandparents. she does a variety of activities with them as shown here:

paisley opened her very first christmas present ever-a book from uncle chris and aunt skeeter-chris read it to her. grandma jensen also read some dr. seuss with her. clearly, paisley will be just like a jensen and love to read.

lastly, we have discovered that our little miss is (sad to say) a couch potato! the girl loves to watch tv! she will twist and wiggle however she needs to to be able to see that screen. she loves catching up on oprah with me and football with daddy. (don't mind my awesome green sweats and pink flip flop slippers-hey, i can't be glamorous all the time) also we have gone to two movies recently, bed time stories and the curious case of benjamin button-both of which we enjoyed and paisley did too. she will usually sleep though part of it, but then she will happily sit on one of our laps and watch the screen. i sure hope its ok that at 3 1/2 months old she has already seen a pg-13 movie, probably not come to think of it.....dang we are slacker parents. do you think the images will effect her negatively?? can she even see that far yet?? i hope not, i just want to protect her from the media of the world for as long as possible. it will be hard with some of the movies out there that look dang good, we need a clear play a-sap.
