blueberry, apricot, pinapple, strawberry waffle

sunday morning Chris and I decided to make waffles for breakfast, I thought lets use frozen blueberries for some extra yummy blueberry waffles. Chris of course took it to the next level, here is what he piled on his waffle: butter, apricot-pinapple jam, strawberries, and powdered sugar. nothing like 1,000 calorie breakfast to start the day, if only we could all eat like Chris and still keep our girlish figures!

the yummy mess

Chris looking oh so happy(and rather handsome I must add) about his creation.

perfect saturday

this last weekend, and part of this week Chris's sister Stephanie and her husband DJ were in town and boy did we live it up. saturday was my favorite day, first Jan, Steph and I walked the 5 miles around lake mira mar, we were soaked in sweat! then we had the most wonderful dip in our pool, it felt so amazing-meanwhile the boys were able to get 18 holes in and then we all met up and headed to the beach. the weather was ideal beach weather and the water was the perfect temperature-loved it!

Chris making the most of the baby waves

playing and eating, beach esentials-i especially like DJ's and Chris's face expressions

yes I am pregnant, and yes I was boogie boarding

Zach and Josh, the cutest brother in laws out there-they are so tan, it is not good to stand by them for pictures

we had so much fun with Steph and DJ in town, we are all hoping that they can move down to sd sometime this summer-we miss them already!

friday surprise

friday afternoon chris called me with a surprise, he had just scored VIP tickets to the Brad Paisley concert for that night! i was excited-who doesn't love free concert!?! julianne hough, chuck willis and jewel opened for him, they were all good, but brad was clearly the star-a great performer.

our VIP tickets, my favorite part being the VIP parking!! yeah for super close and convenient, they had a free food buffet at a special area before the concert-the best was the cheesy scalloped potatoes! yum:)

waiting for brad to come out, this might have to be the last picture of me until the baby comes, it is just not good for my self esteem.

brad's cool stage setup, lots of lights, lots of screens, very entertaining and he played the song that chris and i danced to at our wedding-pretty sweet!

happy mother's/father's day

this year we really wanted to get a grill, because lets be honest grilling is yummy! so we decided that for mother's day and father's day we would do a joint present to each other and get a grill. we got it this week and it is wonderful! some of you might not know, but the jensen men are known for their grilling and chris does not disappoint!

in our little backyard working his magic:) isn't he handsome!

for our first grill meal we re-created one of our favorite burgers out there-the bonzai from red robin. teriyaki burgers with grilled pineapple-scrumptious!

my version: a turkey burger open faced with lettuce on top-it was so yummy! yeah for summer grilling!(or in san diego- year round grilling)

we are going with girl

yesterday i had a doctors appointment(that was a bit tragic, but we don't have time to tell that story)and we have come to the conclusion that the baby is a girl! our little princess wouldn't give us the best shot, but the doctor is fairly sure. of course as she was leaving she said she could be wrong-oh well. for now i am going to start buying up everything glittery, pink, ribbons and pearls! i figure if it is a boy, he will just have to sleep on pink sheets for a week or so. if anyone knows of awesome, unique, but not weird girl names, let me know! i am just happy to be going with something, i am so ready to start planning and looking at bedding and all the fun stuff that a baby gets, look out world a mini-deveney is on the way! (kinda crazy!)

fruits of my labor

my half of the goods

on tuesday i spent most of the day with my awesome mother-in-law Jan, to help her can apricots. first we made apricot-pineapple jam and then we canned the remaining apricots. it was a lot of work, but oh so worth the effort. last night i made homemade biscuits and let me tell you warm fresh biscuits and homemade jam is pretty much perfection-yummy! Jan and i felt very domestic canning fruit that was grown in her backyard-look out rachel ray!

ridiculous

yesterday i bought gas, a fairly normal thing to do and yet still very devastating. i drive a toyota, not a hummer, not a truck, a toyota car and it cost me the low(and by low i mean ridiculously high) price of $4.30/gallon for the grand total of $70.45 and no i did not top it off. awesome. welcome to san diego:)

sandra dee and the surfboard

this week Chris was finally able to put his graduation money to use, he bought himself a 9' long board-it is massive. we haven't been able to see how is performs on the waves yet, but he thinks it should be great so i am sure it will be. i have a hard time with the wax on the board, being the type of person that i am, i just want to scrape off the wax every time i see a surfboard-but i guess that is bad so i hold back on my 'it needs to be clean' urges.

then, being the absolutely amazingly awesome husband that Chris is, he bought me a pink cruiser bike! it is so wonderful, i just love it. it is by electra, they have the cutest girl cruiser bikes and you can see them here. enter sandra dee, that is the name of the bike(though i think she will go by sandy for short) the pearlized pink paint just screamed sandra dee.

so saturday we took sandy on her virgin voyage for an easy 5 mile ride around the lake, it was glorious, i just love riding it! of course Chris seemed to get a little more attention, at least from the 6 year old girl crowd, he was on his long board(skateboard) and and received the comment "cool skateboard" from a little lady with pink sweats that were tucked into her roller blades(think male russian dancer pants) and a blue helmet-needless to say Chris has still got "it."

after we came home i realized that we had just bought a cruiser bike with a big handle bar and a 9' surfboard, not exactly small things-what where we thinking??? like we have room to store these, so now we move to where to put the new toys-wish us luck!
