Play Time/Pinterest try

With girl scout cookies making the rounds, I decided to put a Pinterest recipe for homemade Samoas to the side by side test. Overall, I liked the taste better of the girl scout version. However, I think I could like mine more if I cut the shortbread recipe in half-it was too thick. And I think that if I dipped them individually, rather then a chocolate layer on the bottom, they would be more like the originals. They were good though and got loads of compliments.

Paisley has been busy building towers and being pretty dang proud of herself. She has also been busy with 2 new dress ups that Gammie found for her. They have hoop skirts, jackets, and belts, they are so awesome and much better quality then the cheapo Disney ones she has. This girl has a fully stocked dress up collection now. When she runs she holds up the skirt, she is so proper like that.

February Beach

Whenever we go to the beach I totally take way to many pictures. I think it is because Paisley is always filled with so much joy, I tried to be choosy, but there is still just a lot of pictures from our afternoon at the beach. There was head high surf, so Chris hit the waves and Pais and I played in the sand and snacked!

First things first, we dug the big hole and look, I took a picture of me and my growing belly.

Of course we chased birds, and buried our feet.

We also collected lots of shells and then added them to Paisley's castle on the side of the big hole we dug. I love this place. Isn't it beautiful??

Chris came back from surfing and Paisley was excited to show him all her collected shells.

I love watching these two play, Paisley just adores Chris.

Merry Christmas to ME!

My main Christmas present from Chris was a farmhouse table built by him. We finally decided on a size, a 5ft. square(to seat 8!), and he got busy making plans. We got some supplies and he has been working on it when he can. I am so happy with how good Home Depot wood looks after being sanded, sanded, and sanded some more and then stained. We bought banisters and Chris cut off the top ball on them to make them our legs. I am so excited for this table! It will be glass topped, making it super easy to clean:) Hopefully it will be finished next month, stay tuned for more pictures. I LOVE making progress on my home projects!

A First for Paisley

We colored a picture of Nephi together for a family night, but as you can see it was hard for us to get in, Paisley was a bit of a picture hog. After that Paisley had her first Oreo and milk. Chris taught her the art of the soak and of course she enjoyed it.

Chris was in Utah 2/1-2/5

We went to Utah to celebrate with Chris's cousin, Keith for his wedding. We drove to Vegas on Tuesday night and stayed with my awesome friend Marianne. The drive on Wednesday was so, so, so very long. Losing an hour, traveling with a toddler(ie. no diapers), and having to go further then Provo made it take basically the whole day. We drove straight to Desiree's house, which was empty because she was singing at a Jazz game, and as soon as the bags were in the door Chris was off for the bachelor night with his family. I battled with Paisley to eat dinner and get her to stay in bed, basically it was not a super fun day for me.

On Thursday we woke up to snow! I was shocked. Paisley was all excited and got in her cute snow get up, but going outside went something like this:

Touched it and promptly came right back in. That's my girl! I am pretty sure she said something about not liking snow and wanting to go to the beach, super validating for Chris and I!

I didn't take hardly any pictures of the festivities, I was hoping to get some pictures from family but haven't yet, so I will have to add them later. I totally rocked a 70's look: maxi skirt, platforms, fur coat, over sized shades, and bohemian waves. Paisley enjoyed running in the snow with Ava and the other kids while we all stood around for the pictures.

The rest of Thursday was the luncheon and reception. We did get a little time with Desiree in between everything, so that was nice. Friday I had a hair appointment with Julie Kaye, my ombre is finally looking right! Then I stopped and had a Zupas lunch by myself and headed to the Gunnerson's where Chris and Paisley were hanging out with family.

Friday night we had a friend gathering/potluck at Desiree's house. I am not going to lie, it was a bit of a let down. Chris hasn't been in Utah for almost 4 years, the WHOLE point was for him to see some of his friends, and all girls showed up. Don't get me wrong, I love my girlfriends, but I see them 2-3 times per year, Chris hasn't seen hardly anyone in 4 years. He did make a new friend though, Audrey was giving him some love.

The girls' made a fort, they all played pretty well and I could just not get enough of those sweet faces.

It was great to see Laura and her kiddos, she is such a real person and I love that.

I don't get to see Michelle and Kash as often as some of my other friends, so it was fun to have a visit and catch up with her.

Saturday morning started with Kneaders breakfast, oh my yum. It had been to long, and I was oh so happy to have it in my belly again.

After getting packed up, we headed to the Gunnerson's to see if Chris could get some more cousin time. While I chilled at the house, he took Paisley bowling with some of the family. I was glad he got some more hang out time.

All in all, this trip was less then what we hoped. Part of it was my fault, I could have called some of my family and made more plans, I just really was not feeling good. It was a pretty quick trip too, not too much time to squeeze other things in and what we did have planned just didn't pan out. I did get to eat Cafe Rio twice, Zupas, and Kneaders, so that is a total win! We stayed in Vegas again on Saturday night and were home by Sunday afternoon. We decided that we are not really all about "vacations" at this stage in our life, so if you want to see us, feel free to come to sunny San Diego, I think a lot more stay-cations are in our future:)
