easy pregnancy, rough labor & delivery

well folks, its over and boy am i happy. monday was crazy hard, here is the watered down birth story of paisley suzanne jensen. monday morning at about 3:45am, i started cramping and wasn't sure if it was the start of labor or what-i laid in bed for about an hour and then woke chris up. chris said i should call the doc, so we did and she told us to go ahead and go to the hospital, since i was already supposed to be in at 7am for the induction. the morning was mainly breathing through contractions and thinking about how starving i was, we went in so early that all i had was a yogurt-big mistake! luckily, one of the more veteran nurses hooked me up with some graham crackers and apple juice, it helped a lot. we walked the halls a lot and chris was wonderful at massaging my back and making me as comfortable as possible.

around 10am i hadn't progressed very much, so we started the pitocin(a drug that progresses labor) every half and hour i got a higher dosage which made the contractions stronger and closer together. by about 1, the dr decided to break my water, and i decided i was ready for the epidural. unfortunately, she was closer and ready to break, so i had to get the epidural after she had broken the water. it was extremely painful to have my water broken, my cervix was still pretty high up, so getting to it was rough. then the contractions were super hard and super close together-not fun. finally after 10 hours of labor i got the epidural at 2pm, which was also what i would classify as horrible. having super hard contractions and having to ball up to get the epidural was painful. after that 45 minutes or so of extreme pain, life was good.

later in the afternoon, the epidural started to wear off, actually it happened a few times and every time the dr gave me another dose, i threw up about half and hour later. i guess that makes up for not having morning sickness at all. i was progressing, so that was good, and by dinner time i was fully effaced and dilated to an 8. after just a little while longer, i was dilated to a 10 and ready to push. pushing was hard, and i will not go into the gory details, but it was tough. i pushed for 3 hours and she just wasn't coming down quick enough. after lots of tears, we decided a c-section was needed. paisley was finally born at 11pm on the dot. she was perfect and healthy and we are so thankful for that. i was shaking for along time after and of course threw up again, so miserable! finally about midnight, i was back in the room and able to see her really good, she is perfect! recovery is going ok, considering i have the recovery of both a c-section and a vaginal delivery at the same time. awesome. here are some pictures of our princess.

just getting going, with my mom in the background

right after c-section, i was making a sad face because she was so upset, i guess the shock of a new world is a bit much.

8lbs. 11.7oz 21 1/4 inches--just right!

proud papa, chris is doing an amazing job, he stayed up most of the first night because i was so exhaused. she has blue eyes right now, we hope they stay.

no one ever tells you you get swollen because of all the iv fluids, but you do! oh well, it is all worth it for our little paisley!

waiting, wishing

for those of you on baby watch, here is an update. my dr this week said everything looked really good, the baby is perfect, i am perfect(i haven't gained weight for 5 weeks!) and we are just waiting. this week has been difficult because it is hard to focus and accomplish anything when all we think about is the baby and when she is coming! i have been super tired, more tired then ever before, but luckily my wonderful mom and chris have been doing pretty much everything-love them!
so for now we wait, if she doesn't arrive on her own by monday morning, i have an appointment to induce at 7am-yikes! i kind of feel like it will be monday, but maybe not, i am still walking and exercising and doing what i can to start this thing. i really don't want a c-section and i feel confident that we won't have to go that route(but a few extra prayers won't hurt-wink, wink)so, for now thats all....we will keep ya updated:)

due day

so its almost the end of my due date and no baby yet. so far, i feel normal, just really tired. my mom is now in town(yea for moms!!) and we are just waiting around. i have an appointment on tuesday, so we will see what the doctor says about inducing. last tuesday they said our little princess was 8 lbs. 2 oz, so she might be getting pretty big.

i did this awhile ago, but never posted pictures, i painted the canvas and glittered the p. for those of you who don't know, the p stands for.....Paisley! so this is paisley's wall, i've got her half of the room set up pretty cute, i'll try to get other pictures up sometime.

the glider i almost had

so i have been looking for a glider for pretty much the whole summer. i really want one for nursing and have been looking on craigslist to try and find one that we could afford. several times there have been good ones and then once i got ahold of the seller they were already gone. this glider was posted earlier this week for a great deal so i jumped on it, luckily linda(the lady selling it) said we could come look/get it last night.

i told her we would be there between 7-7:30, she lives half an hour away from chris and i, but for a deal on a good glider, we made the drive. at about 7:15, we were 3 turns away from her house, and linda calls and says, "the glider just sold" i said "what??" she then explained that someone was supposed to come after we looked at it, but they came early and bought it. i was so frustrated, i told her how close we were and that we lived half and hour away, sometimes people just don't make smart decisions. like linda here, i had talked to her first, i had an appointment first, yet i have no glider. chris and i thought about egging her house(kinda dangerous to do bad business with people who know your address) but then we decided that a blog post expressing our anger would be better. so chris and i had a lovely one hour drive to see the sights of northern san diego last night, and i am 3 days away from my due date with no glider and no prospects of one. awesome.

chris can rent a car!

today chris turns 25, i could talk forever about him, but here is just a small tribute to the man that i love. chris is so amazing, he is the husband that i never dreamed i could have and i know he is going to be the best father to our little princess. he works so hard for our family, so that i can be afforded the luxury of staying home with our baby, i am so thankful and grateful for him everyday. he can always put a smile on my face(he has dance skills that the rest of world never gets to see-its sad for all of you) and is the smartest, most wonderful man i have ever met. sometimes i think, oh my gosh, i did it, i really married chris, he gives me a life that is so much more then i ever imagined. i love him. forever.
