berries

one of the aspects of oregon life that i miss the most is the abundance of fresh berries. i have so many fond childhood memories of picking berries with family and then making all types of yummy things with them. fro those of you that have never had a blueberry or marionberry right of the vine, you are missing out, they are SO MUCH better then those bought at the store.{not that i can buy marionberries at the store in san diego} so while we were in oregon, chris, paisley and i did some major berry picking. it was great to go over to cordon road and be back around where i grew up, the farms out there are fabulous. we started with marionberries, my favorite.
{paisley really took advantage of the eat as much as you want rule}

i made a huge amateur mistake by not putting in a berry colored shirt, or no shirt at all for that matter!

after marionberries we moved on to blueberries, so yummy and there were some huge ones!

all in all we picked about 25 lbs of fresh berries, and ate somewhere close to that. we froze them and packed them in out suitcase to fly home to san diego. they made the trip really well and i think we will be doing this again.

after all our hard work we rewarded ourselves with some frozen hot chocolates.

and cooled down by playing in the fountains in front of the capital building. it was a great day and fun to do things with paisley that i did as a child.
